Grit
In sports you will often hear coaches talk about wanting gritty players. They know that grit out plays talent in the long run.

So what is grit?
⁃ perseverance for long term goals
⁃ never giving up even through setbacks
⁃ working hard towards your goals day in and day out
Gritty players have the mindset that they can continue to grow past their natural ability with effort. They are willing to fail, be wrong and start over again and again with lessons learned. Grit is learned through adversity.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1: 2-4

In the Bible, Paul teaches us a lot about how having grit and God’s grace helps us press on to the goal. He trusted that every obstacle was an opportunity for God’s grace to strengthen him through his weaknesses. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:10, “I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” Paul worked hard in everything he did trusting God would use his efforts for good and His glory.
